A vintage egg pendant in 18K gold, in the Faberge taste.
The egg is enamelled in a deep, glossy red and dressed with applied gold flowers - forget-me-not blossoms with white enamel centres - with white enamel dots between them and a rope-twist gold band running down one side. Egg charms in this form descend from the Imperial Russian Easter tradition, and through the twentieth century European workshops - Italy's among them - made them in gold and enamel as pendants and bracelet charms.
The bail is stamped 750 for 18K gold, with a maker's mark that remains unattributed.
